I’m taking you with us to the Almafi coast and let me warn you this is one of the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. You’re going to want to book tickets and you should definitely visit it once in your life.

I’ve always wanted to go to Capri just to see the island and sing this silly French song that
I like « Capri c’est fini ». So we planned around February to go to Italy in September. We rented a car, monsieur wanted a nice convertible Audi, and we ended up with a (cute) Fiat 500 with a convertible roof. I liked it and let me recommend you a small car if you’re driving as the roads are really narrow and you can cross buses easily ! We landed in Naples and drove everyday to a new place, all the way down to Paestrum, visiting Salerno, Sorrento, Almafi, Positano, Capri and Pompéi. A complete week of traveling, eating great food,drinking fresh proscecco and surrounded by amazing landscapes.

We spend our first day in Naples and we were tired of traveling so we didn’t see much. I don’t think we were in the best quarter of the town so our impression of Naples is not very positive. Some love it some hate it. To us it was more a shock because the city streets are closer to Cuba than a develop European city. Dirty, smelly, noisy, it was be charming but we weren’t in the mood for it. Plus there are a lot of police officers in town, which makes you feel safe but at the same time is also a worry of what can happen if there are not there. The city lights are bad and it was quite dark at night to walk. Let me know in the comments if you love Naples, I would love to hear about your impression of this town.

On the second day we went to Capri, took a ferry from Salerno where we were staying at night. The boat drive is about 20 min from Salerno. Capri had a better atmosphere to us than Naples. The tiny streets, the view from the cliffs, it had something charming. We wanted to rent a boat and explore the coast by ourselves, unfortunately the Mediterranean see was wild that day and no one dared to get a boat out. If you luckier than us, you can take a small orange bus from marina grande to marina picola, where the boat renting companies are. The boats have small engines which mean everyone can ride them. It must be very pleasant on a sunny calm day.

As our plans didn’t turn out, we enjoyed a pizzas and we took another bus from Marina picola to Ana-Capri, the other side of the island, less touristy. We were the only one on the bus ! I think the clouds made most people cancel they visit to Capri, so we had a grey sky but the island for ourselves ! Ana-Capri was more authentic than Capri, we walked around and I enjoyed an homemade ice cream. Lemon and watermelon.

For this special day, I worn my husband’s grandma outfit. She passed away few months ago and I inherited some of her clothes. His dad knew I could make things out of it and I would rather give it to me than charity. This was a top and a skirt, the skirt was a bit long so I cut it. The size was perfect so I didn’t need to reduce it. I kept the bottom of the skirt and decided to go with a vintage turban look. Monsieur said we are in Italy not Africa 🙂 but he likes my wild side. He let me walk around with my big bow and red glasses all day.

Now let me talk to you about my straw basket ! I was craving a nice straw bag for this trip. One where I could put all my stuff for the beach, the camera, towels. I wanted a big and strong one. This one is from Amazon, it was cheap, and delivered quickly with prime. But it was plain, and I don’t really like plain ah ah

So I came up with this idea. I love pompom, I have made so many this winter so I decided to customize the bag with pompom but I also wanted it to go with everything… see the dilemma ? I sewed the pompom on push buttons, glued the other half on the bag so I could change the pompom with the outfits ! If you live in London you could have seen me sawing pompom in the tube all week before I went. To honor the country we visited, I picked a red white green combo for Capri. It’s a really easy project, it just takes time to make all the pompom and sew the push buttons.

Je pense que cette série d’articles vous donnera envie d’aller en Italie, je l’espère ! Nous avons été absolument charmés par cette région ! (l’avantage de publier mon article en plein hiver: vous avez tout le temps de vous organiser pour cette été 😉

J’ai tanné monsieur depuis plusieurs années pour qu’il m’emmène à Capri, car j’adooore lui chanter Capriii c’est finiii et pour chanter, il fallait y aller ! Nous avons donc visité Capri et toute la côte Almafitaine en Septembre. Le timing était bon car il y avait moins de touristes que les semaines précédentes je pense, et il faisait quand même beau, j’ai fait 2 plongeons à Positano, l’eau était bonne. Nous avons loué une voiture, et bien sûr monsieur fan de voiture avait réservé une Audi cabriolet… qui s’est transformée en Fiat 500, au grand bonheur de madame ! Nous avons atterri à Naples, et nous avons fait la côte en une semaine. Chaque jour était différent, Capri, Salerno, Sorrento, Almafi, Positano, Paestrum et Pompei. Les distances sont courtes, ce qui permet de voir du paysage et profiter de la dolce vita.

Nous avons passé le premier jour à Naples, mais nous étions tellement fatigués du voyage (décollage à 6:15 de Londres), que nous avions juste kiffé la pizza et je ne peux pas vraiment vous parler de Naples. Nous lui avons quand même trouvé un petit côté Cubain, des rues étroites, bruyantes et odorantes, qui nous ont un peu surpris ! Peu d’éclairage public le soir, nous n’avions pas l’impression d’être en Europe !

Le second jour nous sommes allés à Capri, la jolie Capri ! Je trépignais d’impatience d’arriver sur l’île si attendue ! Le ferry prend 20 min de Salerno, nous avions réservé un bateau pour la demi journée, on se voyait déjà bronzé comme des lézards au soleil mais la mer Méditerranée en avait décidé autrement, elle était déchainée et aucun bateau n’est sorti ce jour là ! Les touristes se sont rabattus sur une petite visite à Ana-Capri, plus sauvage. Les bus de ville sont très facile à prendre, ils sont oranges, tout mimi, et c’est le meilleur moyen de transport sur l’île. Il faut aller de Marina Grande à Marina Picola ( où il y a les bateaux si vous avez de la chance) et ensuite de Marina Picola à Ana-Capri. Comme le temps était couvert, il y avait très peu de touriste du côté d’Ana Capri, nous avons profité de la vue et des petites rues tranquillement. J’ai pu déguster une glace pastèque &citron maison qui allait très bien avec ma tenue du jour.

Parlons-en de cette tenue ! Complètement vintage, c’est un ensemble jupe/top hérité de la grand-mère de monsieur. C’est un vrai tissu Liberty of London ! La taille était déjà bonne, j’ai juste coupé la jupe pour un côté moins mè-mère, et avec le morceau coupé, je n’ai pu résister de me faire un turban ! Une fois n’est pas coutume, j’ai mixé les imprimés avec les espadrilles à carreaux ( pour aller avec les nappes de pizzeria ah ah). j’ai sorti fièrement mon panier, mon meilleur ami de ce voyage pour mettre toutes mes affaires, de plages, appareil photo, tricot… enfin l’essentiel ! Je l’ai trouvé sur Amazon et comme vous connaissez peut être deja mon goût pour le 3 en 1 depuis ma robe de mariée, j’ai voulu faire un »panier aux mille versions » avec un système de pressions cousues sur le panier et les pompoms pour pouvoir les changer en fonction des tenues !

Pour ce premier jour, j’ai opté pour la combinaison patriotique: Viva Italia !!
