Hello ! 

Today I’m taking you back to a summer day in England, the weather has been quite pleasant these last past weeks, but we are definitely in winter now,  I woke up with the sun on my face on Saturday and Sunday and it was really nice. I’m taking you back to a nice September sunny day in the British countryside. 

This special day was at Goodwood car track. As you already know, Monsieur is a huge fan of cars. When we were in Paris we went to the Chantilly car & elegance, you can read my article here. But this time we had to try the original version : Goodwood Revival. 

It’s a weekend event with several car races and all in vintage feeling. And when it comes to dress up and a special theme, British people are really taking things seriously. 

We had to dress in the 50s, 60s or 70s, and everything was vintage, the cars of course, but also the food trucks, the hairdresser, the gas station… It was a full day back in time and we enjoyed it so much !

I surprised my husband with tickets for Christmas and he was happy to have seen this event once in his life. It’s a very family friendly event, people come with there picnic basket and eat while watching the race on the grass. There was a best dressed contest, unfortunately I wasn’t even selected, those British women took it very seriously ! I planned my outfit really early but they must have been planning even earlier than me. 

I took photos of the contest and it really felt like being in an other dimension ! To be eligible, all of your attire had to be from a special period only, and the judges check the coordination of your outfit. I picked a vintage dress from my husband’s grandma. It was handmade and I love the flower print. I couldn’t go without a carrée Hermès in my hair and I was trying to get a Jackie Kennedy look. My shoes are from Zara but they have a little vintage twist. 

I had so much fun planning Monsieur’s outfit as well. We found the jacket in a charity shop and bought the hat at Goodwood because there were a lot of vintage shops. The weather was good, the food was nice, the husband was happy to see all the cars and I was just looking and taking pictures at everyone’s outfit ! 

It was a very nice day for both of us. If you visit England in September I would suggest you check on Goodwood’s website to see if you can go there. It’s a nice even to experience the true British culture, different from London cosmopolitan culture.

Je vais faire durer un petit peu l’été, même s’il est bel et bien parti, avec cet article. Je vous fais voyager à travers les saisons et surtout les époques en vous amenant à Goodwood Revival. Goodwood est un circuit automobile très connu en Angleterre, et chaque année y est organisé un évènement où tout le circuit se met à la belle époque, des 50s au 80s. Et croyez moi, quand il s’agit de se déguiser, les anglais sont au rendez-vous et ne font pas les choses à moitié. Je savais que monsieur, fan de voiture, avait très envie d’y aller. J’ai donc pris les tickets il y a presque un an comme cadeau de noel. Comme au Chantilly Art & Elegance dont je vous ai parlé ici, il s’agit d’un évènement décontracté où les famille profitent d’une belle journée autour du thème automobile. Goodwood s’étale sur 3 jours et nous avions eu la chance d’y être allé en même temps que le soleil ! 

Les invitations papiers que nous avions reçu par la poste annonçaient la couleur, elles étaient imprimées sur du papier vintage et il était spécifié qu’il fallait se déguiser pour pouvoir participer. Bien sûr il a fallu réfléchir aux costumes longtemps à l’avance et j’ai opté pour une robe vintage de la grand-mère de monsieur. Après quelques tutoriels sur youtube, j’ai pu maitrisé les pin curls mais je voulais surtout faire une coiffure avec un foulard Hermès à la Jackie Kennedy. Malgré toute ma bonne volonté, je n’ai pas été selectionnée par le jury pour le meilleur costume, mais j’ai apprécié le défilé des finalistes. Il fallait que la tenue complète vienne de la même époque et soit vraiment vintage. Je vous ai dit, les anglais ne rigolent pas avec ça ! 

Nous avons passé une super journée loin de la grande ville et dans un univers très British que l’on ne trouve pas toujours dans la capitale cosmopolite.
