DIY Christmas table- Table de Noël (bricolage)

Today I’m excited to share with you my Christmas table decoration and DIY ! This year I wanted to try something new, when I lived at my parents’ we used to have two sets of Christmas ornaments : red/gold, blue/silver. So I guess I wanted to do something different this year, so I decided to go for copper, white and glass. Copper is such a beautiful vivid color, but as its not as popular as silver and gold, so it was hard for me to find ornaments that were not out of my budget. After looking through Pinterest I choose to buy a nice spray can of copper and make the ornaments myself. Once the spray paint was bought it was so easy for me to go to cheap stores ( poundland is my favorite !) and just buy any ornaments and spray paint it.

I also love the spray painted wine bottles that you can find on Pinterest so we saved our wine bottles to make pretty candles holders in our fire place. To remove the tags, I put the bottle 5 minutes in a hot oven and it was much more easier to remove the tags from the oven than leaving to soak in water ! So if you want to try this, remember the oven trick !

The paint was found in this shop in London. The brand is Montana acrylic spray paint (color Copper chrome) In my opinion it’s a good quality one, it doesn’t chip or crakle, dries quickly and as this nice mirror shine that I was looking for. It’s acrylic so it’s waterproof and can be used on any surfaces. Once I had it in my hands I could stop painting everything !

I made candle holders that I bought at the thrift shop for 0.30€ in France. I had a lot of them so I only painted half of it, I kept the other pink.

I did a wire basket for our bread for the table and the Christmas crackers that I put on the plates. We had an old watering can in our garden from the owners and the color has fade away with the rain and the sun, so I hope they don’t mind I turn it into a piece of art :). We bought cheap forks and knifes last summer when we had people over for diner but did have enough sets for everyone, and now that we have our beautiful wedding plates and knifes we don’t use it anymore. So it went in the box with the other ugly things to paint, and here we go ! Fancy forks and knifes to match my table. I tried a dead leaf and it was also very pretty.

The photo speak for themselves: my white glass and copper Christmas table ! I will definitely think about the spray paint again when I need to have a scheme color and I guess you can also use it on small furniture too. Make me excited about refurbished a house one day !

Aujourd’hui je suis heureuse de partager avec vous ma table de Noël ! Et comme je travaillerai ce jour là, et que ma maman sera en charge de la table, je me suis amusée à mettre la table avant l’heure.

Cette année j’ai voulu changer des couleurs traditionnelles bleu/argent et rouge/doré que nous avions l’habitude d’avoir chez moi étant enfant.

J’avais envie de quelque chose de reposant, chaleureux et un peu scandinave, épuré. La couleur bronze m’a paru être une bonne alternative au argenté/doré. Le seul problème c’est qu’avec une couleur aussi originale, les décorations pour le sapin étaient chers et le choix restreint. J’ai donc décidé d’acheter une bombe de peinture cuivre et de peintre les décorations moi même, j’ai trouvé la bombe dans un magasin spécialisé dans l’art à Londres, mais on peut trouver la même marque ici. ( Marque Montana, couleur copperchrome).C’est une peinture acrylique, qui sèche vite, à un joli effet miroir et adhère à toutes les surfaces ( j’ai testé: verre, bois, plastique, papier…). Une fois la bombe dans les mains, je ne pouvais plus m’empêcher de vouloir tout repeindre !

Pour la table de noël, j’ai repeint :

-les bougeoirs trouvés chez Emmaus pour 0,30€ ( j’en ai gardé une partie rose pour l’été)

-les crackers de noël à poser sur les assiettes

– le manche des couverts pas cher que nous avions acheté cet été en urgence pour nos invités.

-une feuille morte

-un plateau

– le vieil arrosoir des propriétaires tout défraîchi a été transformé en pièce d’art moderne.

– et mon préféré : les bouteilles de vin bougeoirs pour la cheminé

Ce sont les bouteilles de vin peintes que l’ont voit souvent sur Pinterest qui m’ont donné envie de me lancer. Et le résultat me plait beaucoup, je n’ai pas envie de m’en séparer maintenant !

Petite astuce pour enlever les étiquettes des bouteilles: les mettre 5-8 min dans un four chaud. La colle va fondre et l’étiquette se décolle toute seule. C’est beaucoup plus facile que de laisser tremper les bouteilles et frotter.
