Let’s do this ! Last part of my wedding saga, the diner and the party time 🙂

We entered the room when everyone was seated, and I changed my gown, my biggest secret of the year was about to be revealed !

My ideal dress was to have 1) A big princess dress for the ceremony, the biggest the better, with a lot of tulle. 2)Have a mermaid dress for the diner so I could move around and show the body I’ve been working all year long, I won’t get  many occasion to have red carpet dresses to wear in my life, so a mermaid gown was my dream dress for the diner.

And 3) a cocktail dress, I also like a small simple white dress that I could wear again and again and be really confortable and feel sexy for dancing all night long.

So that’s what I asked when I went to the bridal shops, and trust me, no one really answered my wish, «  you need to buy 3 dresses », I don’t have the budget… Until I went to Bordeaux,( I did many shops in Paris and I found my gown in Bordeaux, Paris the capital of fashion !) Anyway, I found a nice designer who agreed on making the dress for the same price than a classical dress in other shops. It was a little bit stressful to just trust her and see few months after the result, but the stress turned quickly into excitement, and because this dress designer wants brides to feel great in their gown she offered unlimitated appointments, to teach how to walk, go up the stairs and sit properly with the dress. I went to try my dress almost everytime I was in Bordeaux, because the feeling is amazing and you can’t really wear your dress again after the wedding.

To keep the secret for everyone, I didn’t tell anyone, only my mother was coming with me on the appointments. That’s something I highly recommand to brides to be. Going with your friends is fun, I did it too, with my sister, my best friends so they could see me and help me, but only at the beginning of the process, when I didn’t really know the shape I wanted. (Turned out I wanted all the shapes after all lol).

So on D-Day not only the groom but everybody had the surprise and in my case  they had the suprise 3 times.

We entered the room as Mr&Mrs Daniel on Barry White song « My first, my last, my everything » We cruised around the tables to finally seat on our table. We chose to have a big « couple table » with 16 friends, mostly our international friends who came for our wedding for Taiwan and Finland, but also our closest friends that we don’t get to see often.

Let me talk about the menu ! We didn’t have a starter as the cocktail party was long and rich. So we had a main course with a « cuissot de veau », veal tigh, served on a big tray. The meat has been cooked in rosemary juice for 8hours, it was caramalized and melting in the mouth, we had it with some eggplants and zucchini on the side. As Lulu is a huge fan of Game of Throne and it feels likewe were having a middle age meal, with the table and the meat, we decided to put the game of throne song on when they entered the room. It was fun to see people’s face when the meat came it, it felt like if we were the king and queen of the castle.

After the main course we had cheese, but like so many part of my wedding I wanted to do something special for the cheese. I wanted a cheese cake like I pinned so many times on Pinterest , So I asked the catering to make on with fresh fruits on the side of it. We had a terrasse with the room we rented so we served the cheese outdoor. I wanted our diner to be full of activities and not a boring seated one. Not everyone like cheese and this also allows us to avoid wasting food. During the cheese time we did a little Entertainment. It’s also a Pinterest idea, thank you Pinterest for making my wedding so personal.

So I made a wooden box out of a wine box. I personalized it with our special fabric. Inside the box there are two glasses, two love letters and a bottle of wine, in our case, Smith Haut Lafitte wine. So we wrote each other letters,and I sealed them. We nailed the box in front of our friends and family. We are allowed to open the box for our first big argue as a married couple. I hope Lulu is not going to argue on purpose just to drink the wine ah ah

So when we have our first big fight we are allowed to open the box, read the letters we wrote and come make peace around the bottle of wine. It’s a funny thing to do, and I hope we open the box in 2025 at least !

After the cheese we had … dessert ! Yeah ! My big dream wedding cake was coming soon ! But first a little issue, of course, nothing is really perfect in the real life. The caterer came to tell me they couldn’t find our cake topper, the cake topper’s box was empty in the kitchen. Hum, I was a little upset, everything was perfect and this little details was bothering me, especially when I prepared everything in advance. My maids of honor took care of it, my friend Laura even when to check in the trash to see if it didn’t end up there by accident. And it magically re appeared after 10 min, the bride was relieved, and the show could go on !

We had classical music for the cake, it was also presented of the terrasse outdoor. I prepared sparklers so people could light them during the cake cutting. The classical music, the light and having everyone around the table with the cake in the middle was a moment I will forever cherish in my heart. Our cake was a lime and rapberry cake, and we had a personalized cake topper I had ordered on Etsy.com. And I wanted to put something for Lulu as well, so we hided a glass car on the side of the cake too. The kids were surprised to see the car coming from the side of the cake.

My friend Léa sung a song for us during the cake, her perfect voice and the sweeteness of the cake goes perfectly along ! After the cake and all the calories, you will agree with me that we needed some exercice right ?! Then we could count on my friend Niki the Greek to make a dance Sirtaki !

I love ancient Greece, I studying ancient greek for few years in junior high and high school ( weirdo…) and I love the Sirtaki dance, so fun to do in a group ! I need to put on my bucklet list to go back to Greece and dance it there. Anyway, I sent the video of the dance 2 weeks before the wedding, so people could train. And many did ! It was so much fun to see my uncles and cousins everyone dancing it. Of course we ended up in a big mess group that didn’t look like a circle at the end but it was just laughing, kicking and jumping everywhere. You can see my short dress version on some photos, it would have been too risky to wear the long version !

After the Sirtaki, my Dad did a little game the “Cinderella game”, he picked up girls from all ages and took their shoes, and picked up men to give them the shoes so they could find their Cinderellas, we laugh a lot during this fun game. After the game we watched the Powerpoint my sister prepared for us, of course with photos of us when we were little but also with videos of guests that couldn’t come to party with us, my friends from Australia, Brazil and Lulu’s grandma who is 94 years old. It was really nice of her to prepare this surprise for us.

We went back to our hotel room, tired but  with our head full of memory and our hearts full of love, happy to be married and ready to start this new adventure together.

Mariage partie IV : dîner et soirée de mariage

Reprenons, où nous en étions, les mariés vont bientôt faire leur entrée pour le dîner, la dernière partie du mariage et de cette série d’article sur le mariage.

Ma deuxième robe allait enfin être révélée ! (j’avais quand même hâte d’enlever le gros jupon en tulle qui me tenait bien chaud !) Je reprends en quelques phrases le concept de ma robe de mariée pour ceux qui nous rejoignent. Je voulais une grosse robe de princesse pour la cérémonie avec un jupon en tulle et une taille serrée, et puis je me voyais bien avec une robe fourreau, près du corps, sirène pour le dîner, pour pouvoir marcher plus facilement et avoir une vraie robe de soirée. Ensuite comme je voulais danser avec mes copines et que les robes longues c’est bien mais difficile à remettre, je voulais une robe cocktail blanche. Evidemment avec un projet pareil, on m’a dit plus d’une fois qu’il faudrait 3 robes et donc un budget multiplié par 3…

J’ai trouvé chez Jour de Rêve, une créatrice bordelaise, qui a bien compris ce que je voulais, et qui m’a confectionné la robe de mes rêves dans mon budget. Le début était un peu stressant bien sûr, il a fallu faire confiance et attendre quelques mois avant de voir quelque chose qui ressemblait au résultat final.

Pour que la surprise soit totale, seul ma maman était aux essayages, c’est quelque chose que je recommande aux futures mariées, une maman est la meilleure des compagnies dans ce genre de situation, je suis allée essayer des robes avec mes copines biensûr mais quand j’ai commencé à avoir une idée précise, j’y suis retournée qu’avec ma mère pour avoir les idées claires et un seul avis. Comme ça le jour J tout le monde a la surprise, pas seulement le marié, les copines, la famille et dans mon cas, ce n’est pas 1 mais 3 surprises !

Nous sommes rentrés dans la salle du diner en tant que Mr & Madame Daniel  sur la chanson de Barry White, « my love, my last, my everything », nous avons dansé autour des tables pour ensuite nous asseoir à notre grande table ovale. Nous avions 18 places au total sur la table des mariés et nous avons favorisé les amis qui venaient de loin, taiwanais, finlandais par exemple.

Parlons un peu du menu ! Il n’y avait pas d’entrée car le cocktail était copieux, le place principal était un cuissot de veau qui a cuit 8h dans du jus de romarin, un délice, servi avec une tartine méditéranéenne. Pour faire une petite animation et un clin d’œil aux aficionados, nous avons mis la B.O de Game of Throne pour la présentation du cuissot sur brancard. On se serait cru à un repas médiéval !

Après le plat est arrivé le fromage, une pièce montée de fromage, plutôt qu’un fromage à l’assiette, j’ai opté pour une pièce montée avec des figues, du raisin autour. Nous avons présenté le fromage sur la terrasse de la salle, c’est un peu le concept manger-bouger. Ce qui voulaient du fromage devait se lever et pouvaient papoter avec d’autre personne.

 Pendant le fromage nous avons eu une petite animation que j’avais trouvée sur Pinterest. J’ai décoré une petite caisse de vin avec notre tissu, et à l’intérieur nous avons mis 2 lettres d’amour cachetées, deux verres et une bouteille de Smith Haut Lafitte.

Nous avons cloué la boite pendant le fromage au mariage, à notre première vraie dispute de jeunes mariés (ou vieux mariés d’ailleurs !) nous avons le droit d’ouvrir la boite, partir chacun de notre côté lire la lettre de l’autre et nous réconcilier autour de la bouteille. J’ai parié sur 2015 ah ah, plus on attend plus le vin sera bon. J’ai déménagé une partie de mes affaires le week-end dernier et le papa de Lulu qui était la aurait bien voulu qu’on se chamaille pour en profiter aussi, mais non, tout c’est bien passé, sauf un magnifique service Emmaus rose bonbon qui a dû repartir, Lulu a mis son véto…

Et après le fromage nous avons eu le dessert ! Le wedding cake que j’étais impatiente de voir !! Mais biensûr il y a des imprévus, et juste avant l’arrivée du gâteau, nous avons eu une petite frayeur, le cake topper que j’avais préparé en cuisine avait disparu… Vu que je l’avais commandé et fait faire avec notre nom,  mes témoins ont dû chercher partout pour le retrouver, Laura est même aller voir dans les poubelles ! Il est réapparu comme il avait disparu, et la fête a pu continuer ! Nous avions caché une voiture en verre dans le gâteau pour faire un clin d’œil à la passion de Monsieur Daniel pour les voitures. Ce qui a fait beaucoup rire les enfants !

Nous avions choisi un morceau de musique classique pour l’entrée du gâteau et les photos traduisent parfaitement l’atmosphère, les scintillants, le gâteau et la nuit bien noire rendaient l’atmosphère magique. Nous avons coupé le gâteau et l’avons dégusté pendant que ma copine Léa a chanté une jolie chanson. Après tous ces calories nous avions besoin d’un peu d’exercice, et c’est là que ma copine Niki entre en piste : Sirtaki time !!

Je suis depuis mon adolescence et les cours de grec ancien que j’ai suivi au collège, une grande fan du folklore grec, et le Sirtaki est une de mes danses préférées, nous avons peu de danse en cercle en France, et j’avais très envie de danser le Sirtaki à mon mariage. Niki ma copine grecque s’est donc occupée de cette animation, nous avons beaucoup rigolé ! Pour ne pas abimer ma robe, j’ai enlevé le bas en tulle pour laisser apparaitre la troisième robe cocktail. C’était tellement marrant de voir toute ma famille réunie, mes amis des 4 coins du monde danser le Sirtaki, qui a fini en une espèce de soupe de jambes mais nous avons bien ri !

 Pour ce qui est des autres animations, mon papa avait préparé un jeu, Cendrillon, où il a aligné dames et demoiselles et distribué les chaussures de chacune à un homme, qui devait retrouver sa cendrillon. Il y a bien sûr eu le traditionnel diaporama de mariage, fait par ma petite sœur, qui s’est bien investie, puisqu’elle a réussi a avoir les vidéos des invités qui n’avaient pas pu venir ( d’Australie, de Finlande du Brésil et  aussi de la grand-mère du marié qui a 94 ans), c’était très émouvant de voir à quel point chacun s’est investi dans ce mariage.

Après la soirée dansante, nous sommes parties rejoindre notre chambre d’hôtel, fatigués certes mais avec des souvenirs plein la tête et surtout heureux de pouvoir continuer notre histoire d’amour avec de nouvelles aventures !
